Let’s start out by talking about developing your own info products. Honestly, I believe that this is the route that you should take to ensure that you create the greatest income online (with the exception of combining methods). Even if you have to pay someone to develop your products for you, in the long run, your profit potential is greater.

You see, with this option, you are able to develop your own force of affiliates to sell your product for you. You also control whether you are selling the product only or selling some form of resale rights to the product as well. In fact, you can even charge a separate price for the product and the resale rights, providing you with multiple income streams from a single product.

The one downside to creating your own products (or having them created for you), is that it takes some time to do it properly. And, if you are paying someone else to develop the product, your costs can be quite high. However, if you have sufficient time and a desire to save a ton of money, the work is not difficult. In the long run, though, I am sure that you will find that the costs are minimal compared to the income you can derive.

One further benefit of creating your own product is the name recognition that you will certainly attain if you have a hit product on your hands. Once you produce your own product, you can instantly become an expert in your field. Who knows?

If your product is a big enough success, you may even attain that coveted “guru status” overnight!

Think about what this can mean to your income online? People always look to the experts to provide them with information. One good info product can open the door for an entire line of info products, all created by you!

The first step that you will take in creating your own product is to find your market. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of finding a market first, and then creating your product for that market. Once you have your topic selected, only then can you move on to the next step … deciding what type of product to create.

Information marketing is by far one the of the most lucrative forms of doing business online. Gone are the days of everyone expecting information for nothing. It is about solving specific problems and providing answers to issues.

If writing a full fledged ebook scares you and or makes you a bit nervous, then my suggestion is trying Jimmy D Browns Short Reports Fortunes. It shows you step by step how to create meaty products and if done the right way you can create a couple chapters at a time and before you knowit,  you actually will have a full fledged ebook in your hands. All of it filled with all the meat that your customers will be searching for and giving you the opportunity to over deliver.

Many people immediately think of ebooks when they hear the words “information product”, but there’s so much more you can do with your information products that will make your products more useful to your customers AND will help you make more money.

Why Your Customer Benefits from Different Information Formats:

People learn and like to consume information in different ways. Many people do like to read and printed reports or ebooks will do the trick for them. Others like to listen to information. They may want to download audios to their mp3 players, burn them to CDs so they can listen in the car or listen on their computer while they attend to other tasks. Some people may prefer to watch and you may even want to include video in your information products.

Why YOU Benefit from Different Information Formats:

When you offer different formats, you can increase the perceived value of your products. A product that is just a downloadable PDF may not be seen as valuable as a product that offers an ebook, audio recording and transcripts. This means, you can charge more for your information product…increasing your bottom line.

You can also reach more customers with your multi-media information product. Some people won’t buy ebooks because they’d prefer to listen. Others may have slow Internet connections and can’t easily download mp3s, so they would rather have typed information they can read. There are so many reasons why customers prefer different formats and it’s easy to provide those formats…so why not go the extra mile.

Keep in mind accessibility. People with visual impairments may find it easier to listen to your audio and those with hearing impairments wouldn’t be able to listen to your audio. Don’t limit their options.

And Don’t Just Limit Yourself to One Product:

It’s tough to make a great living off just one information product and if you make a great product, your customers are going to want more. So, when you’re creating your first information product, make a plan for additional ebooks. These can give more in-depth information on certain topics, could contain more advanced techniques or anything that your target customer would be interested in.

Alternatively, if you can’t develop your own line of products immediately, ensure that you have some backend sales lined up and recommend further products through affiliate links. Always make the most of your marketing efforts!

Today’s resources for creating your own info products. Info Product Dashboard by Marlon Sanders is as easy as point and click and Jimmy D. Browns-Small Report Fortunes is about starting out with 10 to 20 page reports. Both products have served me extremely well.

Today’s the day, you know.   The day the magic bullet ends. I’m not here to sugar coat things. To candy coat this business and sell you sandcastles, dreams and illusions of an easy life that doesn’t exist.

Here’s the truth:

The money is in producing and promoting products, NOT in consuming “how to” info products. Having said that, last year I spent $37,500 consuming ebooks, courses, teleseminars and so forth on marketing.

In other words, I AM a consumer.

But dominantly, I’m a producer and a promoter of products. My job in life is to come up with new products that create value for my customers and to promote them to the best of my ability within the time and money constraints I decide on.

“Marlon, I have SPENT a small fortune.  I have BEEN in coaching programs. I have BOUGHT the course.  How come I’m NOT making any dough?”

Answer:  You’re consuming.  But are you PRODUCING and PROMOTING? And are you doing it more than ONCE?  Are you out there playing
the Game every day?

Let me explain…

The problem I see a lot of people have is they consume, consume, consume. But NEVER cross the bridge to creating, producing and promoting.

Fundamentally, you ARE a creator. It’s a law of life. You don’t get money from others until you create or possess some sort of value they want and are willing to exchange for.

The thing that STOPS a lot of people from becoming a producer and a promoter is FEAR of getting it WRONG!  You want it all to be perfect, to be right, to NOT make mistakes.

Well, you can throw that out the door right now.

No matter how many courses you buy, you WILL make mistakes, you WILL waste time, you WILL waste money.  Then why do I buy info products?  Because I hate learning curves.

I hate figuring things out the hard way. I like doing it the easy way.

The real answer to why only 3% succeed and how to know if YOU will be part of the 3% or the 97%.

Are You Gonna Produce Or Consume?  Let’s get it straight.   All the money in this business is made by being a producer, not a consumer. Now, being a consumer is NOT bad or wrong.

But here’s the secret: You consume to produce.

Let me share a fact: It’s been estimated that 97% of   customers of info products don’t make anything. Why? Because they never produce and promote.

They just consume and make up reasons why they can’t do it, why it won’t work for them, why they are different, why their situation is different, and why later not now is the time to start.

True story.

This fact is true of ANY info product business where you are teaching people how to do things. Whether it’s how to invest in stocks, real estate or anything else.

So realize this happens in EVERY industry, not just mine.

It’s really crucial that you get this straight in your head. For one thing, in the U.S., you are supposed to publish “typical results.” No one does. Why? Because the typical result is 3%. Now, colleges do fair  slightly better. 80% of the people who graduate with a degree NEVER work in the field they got their degree in.

So if 4 years of college and $50,000 or $100,000 can’t get people a $30,000 a year entry level job, why is it that a small minority of people with a chip on their shoulder,   think they can buy a $97 course and with almost NO effort grab six figures?

Why is that? It makes no sense. That a human being with intelligence could think that baffles me. People want something where someone else gives them a defined set of instructions, they do it with no risk, and they get a check.

THAT is called a “job,” not a business.

You don’t push a few buttons and money magically appears — NOT until you have a list or form agreements with people who DO have lists. Then, yeah, you push a few buttons and money appears.

This is not a job. It’s a business. And by nature, business is volatile, uncertain and there is risk involved and no guarantees. If you can’t deal with that fact, keep your day job. Honestly.

$20,000 in 45 Days From Scratch

“If you had to make $20,000 in the next 45 days with no list, no traffic, no affiliates, no nothing — how would you do it?”

I actually get asked this kind of question a lot.  It comes in various forms, but the meaning is always the same:  how can someone will no existing assets make a significant amount of money in a relatively short amount of time.

Here’s “how I would do it”…

1. Create a high-ticket offer.

The first thing I’d do is simply go with the numbers.  If I need to make $20,000 over the next year, I could find a LOT of customers.  But, since I need to do it in only 45 days, my time is limited.  I need to find FEWER customers while generating the same amount of money.

The best way to do that is to CHARGE MORE for whatever it is that I’m going to be selling.

If I sell something that costs $1,000 then all I need is 20 customers.  That’s certainly doable in 45 days time.  I’d only need to find 1 customer approximately ever 2 days.  That’s not a daunting task at all.

So, instead of selling a $20 ebook where I’d need to find 1,000 customers (which is almost impossible in 45 days), I’d create a high-ticket offer that sells for around $1,000 a pop.

I need 20 customers to pull this off.

So, what kind of “high-ticket” offer would I create?

The easiest thing for me to create would be a 4-week eClass that includes personal coaching.  It has a high perceived value, can be put together relatively easily and caters to the kind of clientele that I’m looking for (IE Big spenders).

All I’d need to do is write 4 lessons (one per week of the eClass), write a salesletter, get an order-processor and setup the website.

I can do this myself, find a partner or outsource it all if I have a small budget.  HINT:  I could easily spend $5,000 on getting this project completely done and then just look for 5 more customers.

So, that’s my first thing to do.  Then…
