Hello, Marlon here.
If you’ve never used Yahoo Groups before, it’s basically a free service that allows you to setup a group (or join an existing group) where everyone can send system-wide emails to everyone else. A group can consist of virtually anyone. There are groups for mothers and for pilots. There are also private groups for family members, close friends, and alumni of a particular university. In our application today, I’m going to suggest that you join a group, rather than create one. I’m also going to suggest that you be careful in how you select your groups…
For starters, it’s important to understand why you’re using Yahoo Groups, and what it could potentially offer you as an affiliate marketer. If you plan to join spam groups, where every member sends out a slew of advertisements to all other members, you may be better off ignoring Yahoo Groups and trying something different altogether. You aren’t likely to make a lot of money sending out repeated advertisements to people who want to advertise – not buy.
Now, if you are patient and willing to put in a little work, then you can use Yahoo Groups to your advantage. However, rather than seeing it as a pulpit for spam, see it as a means of seeking out and communicating with potential customers. Think about it as you might think about participating in forum discussions – the more you do it and the more you contribute, the more people will respect you and consider purchasing what you offer. This is probably the single most important part of being a raging success, because without hundreds of visitors coming to your site daily you can’t present your offer, you can’t tweak your sales page and sales funnel you can’t build a list and your site becomes essentially useless.
I want to talk about free methods that can be used to get a steady flow of new daily visitors to your site.
Forum Marketing- this is a very under utilized form of traffic, and even when people do attempt to use it, they usually get it wrong, and the biggest way they usually get it wrong is, in their haste they want to be done with it quickly. This is not the way to, and there is a simple solution to that thought process, and when you have found forums in your given niche, you want to block off a couple hours, and really concentrate on the value of the information you are offering. After hearing it over and over again, you know “the money is in the list”. You have finally made the decision to set yourself up to collect names and email addresses. There is no doubt that the money is in the list, it’s like your personal ATM if you take good care of your lists.
One of the crucial things you need to do is to give more than you get and it is absolutely imperative that you gain the trust of your prospects. One of the best ways to go about building trust is to write articles and give people the kind of value they are looking.
Another way to build up trust amongst your target group is to join in on forums, You have to let people get to know you first. They have to be assured by you and your deeds before they make a purchasing decision. Seems like a lot of work doesn’t it? Well the reality is that it is going to be a lot of work. Traffic is pretty much everything to generating an income online, without visitors to your website, there will be no one to see your offer and no to see the different things your site has to offer. With no one purchasing anything, all you are managing to do is waste your time. After your site or blog is up and it is how you want it, the only real things you’ll be paying attention to is driving a constant flow of traffic and converting that traffic.
But you don’t want just any traffic, you are looking for highly focused and targeted traffic. Be careful where you go looking for traffic online and how you go about getting it. Especially for the new person just getting started. Forum Marketing is simply another form of social marketing, by which you as a marketer search out forums related to your given niche, and by joining and participating and helping others, you gain credibility and can gain loyal readership. Forums give you the ability to reach your target audience and develop an image for your brand and yourself.
Forum marketing is a very effective and a no cost way of promoting your home business. However, it amazes me how many people get this step wrong. If your looking at forum marketing to get you an overnight flood of traffic, that simply isn’t going to happen. And what happens more often than not with a newbie forum marketer, is they’ll go out and locate a few forums in their niche, and then immediately start spamming the forum to death.
