When it comes to internet marketing, a niche refers to a smaller segment of a much larger niche and often it is an area of a niche that is under served. Yet it has a need and a demand that is not being met. The beauty of understanding this concept and ones ability to exploit and fill the demand is the key to hitting home runs most all the time.

One of the great things about niche marketing is, this is where the true gold is hidden. This is how some people are able to create an online business and succeed at a very rapid pace. Using niche marketing and servicing a smaller under served segment of a market keeps you from having to fight the big dogs. You’ll find it is much easier to dominate, when you really understand what it is that market segment is looking for.

Some of the niches that I have built businesses around have a what some would consider and pretty small segment and I am talking about serving 15 to 30 thousand. However the difference was that it happened to be a ready to buy segment and was full of hungry cash in hand customers. Some wouldn’t have even bothered with such small numbers.

How I accomplished some great successes was to use the tools I had available. I spent time in the forums and poked and carefully prodded and got the information I needed to develop short reports that people were willing to buy. I set up a short, but to the point questionaire and used google adwords to get the answers I was looking for. I located a freebie that I could give away and gave it to my prospects for filling out the survey.

One important element of getting involved with niche marketing, is being able to find something that you have a high degree of interest in and or a hobby that your passionate about. It will allow you to speak their speak, and be knowledgeable right outta the gate. Most of the time you’ll know what questions to ask. I firmly believe that by taking this approach especially when just starting out, will go a long way in you enjoying the building process of your venture.

Does this mean you can’t succeed in a niche you are unfamiliar with? Not at all. It’s proven time and time again that if you are able to uncover any under served niche market that you can succeed and the only real difference is learning who these people are, and how they talk, and what they are looking for. Niche Marketing is all about filling a hole, its about providing a need that is not being met. This is the easiest way to become a real success story when it comes to creating a thriving online business.
