Are you one of those folks who has been wondering if writing and creating your own information products is worth the time and effort that everyone speaks of ? Are you wondering if what some say has actually happened, and  the market place is flooded and saturated?

Well I am here to tell that information marketing and writing ebooks and short reports is alive and well. I personally don’t see it ever becoming what others would call saturated. Firstly the vast majority of those who click the on button to their computer are seeking information and they are more than willing to pay for it if it helps them.

This was not always the case. Back in the day, when ebooks were taking a foot hold and there was actually an industry that could be called information marketing, people fully expected everything they searched for online to be free. I mean you can’t blame them,  it was then and still is the information highway and they were conditioned to free.

However, today those who are searching for information are more than happy to pay for it and they have been conditioned to this form of information gathering. Especially if it is going to  save them time searching endless pages of content online. Information products or ebooks tend to address a specific need and or it solves a specific problem he or she may be having. There are ways to identify these elements in probably any given niche and that is exactly how you want to attack the process of writing your own ebook. More later!

There are a couple of areas that people go very wrong in this business model. First and probably the biggest is getting into markets that they know little about and they trying to simply follow the money. They enter markets knowing little about the subject matter and expect to create wonders. Some are far more adept at this and I am certainly one of them. I have to know the subject first. I have to have a level of excitement and motivation for it in order to keep pushing forward with the project. I have to think that most are like this.

The second area where most go wrong is getting into extremely hyper competitive markets. Here’s what I mean  (ie: internet marketing, weight loss, real estate, health, etc.) anything that has millions and millions of sites and millions of products. Competition is good, but you have to be a bit realistic. Let me give you a perfect example. I run sites  in other niches that have nothing to do with internet marketing. This blog is honestly and easily 10 times more work than my other niches. Thank God my other sites are very established and affords me the extra time that this blog takes.

Now, almost 8  years ago, when I was just thinking about and discovering this whole internet marketing thing, I had a phone conversation with Marlon Sanders. The very first thing he told me was stay away from hyper competitive markets. His advice was to find a niche I was interested in and then find within that niche a sub niche, and locate a problem that needed to be solved and then write about it and create a product around that itch that needed scratched.

It truly was the best advice I received. It worked out just great and that little product is selling to this day. Now if you are interested in the right way to get into the information marketing business model here are 2 of my favorite resources and both have different approaches and bot methods work great and you will have to decide based on the benefits the suit you.

First is Marlons Info product dashboard and what I like about it, is how it is laid out in a point and click format and he has taken all his knowledge of creating products and set it up with every aspect he uses to create products at will. This is definitely one of his hottest selling products.

Another fabulous resource I have been using quite a bit over this past year has been Jimmy Browns Small Reports Fortunes and what I like about the product,  it takes things and breaks it into bite sized chunks and makes easy to create simple reports and make money. We’re talking 7 to 15 pages at a time. It is a great way to get started. I combined the 2 and it is pretty powerful.
