Giving Your Web Copy a Checkup from The Neck Up
We all get caught up in the fast pace of doing business online and with so many things to do and so many distractions, we often forget some things. Sometimes we gotta sit back and ask ourselves a few questions. Here is what I mean. Is our site doing all it can based on the amount of traffic that we are pulling in. Are there things that we could be doing to what we have already done that could vastly improve the results.
When running an online business venture it is all about testing and tweaking until it is performing at its best. Now when asking yourself these questions be a bit hard yourself and figure out if you personally have done all you can. Do you know your target market the way you should? Have you spent time on chat rooms to find out what your target market is talking about and the do you know your target audience the way you should? The lingo they use and the age group that hangs out there and what they are talking about. This is valuable, valuable information. Especially when it comes to writing your web copy and identifying with your target market.
Web copy is about relating directly with your audience and sometime you have to change the over all tone of your copy to meet the need of your audience. Are the colors your using on your site to harsh and bright? Does everything have the right flow to it? When your writing your web copy and creating a great piece of copy writing everything counts.
For instance when your writing your web copy it has to have a natural and progressive flow to it. It has to have purpose and that purpose it to get your audience to take a specific action. Does not really matter whether your asking for a sign up or your asking for them to purchase it has to have a purpose. Each point of your copy has to lead your prospect from one aspect and benefit to the next and ultimately done with your desired end result.
typically what I do after any piece of copy has been up a little I will go back in and review it. Often times I end up really reworking some of it with things I had not even though of when I was in the throws of writing the web copy the first time around. The results are usually higher conversions from just tweaking my headlines and my bullet points. Remember the vast majority are scanners. So is you sub heading and benefits going to keep drawing them back in?
Take a hard look at your call to action. Is it as powerful as it should be and did all your benefits and bullets lead them to take the action you asked for? Now maybe you don’t have to change a thing, however it has been my experience that little tweaks here and there have such a difference. And last but not least take a close look at your keyword choices and how they are working for the search results and are they linking to the copy the way they are suppose to. Do you have enough of your keyword choice or do you have to much?
